Most water heater problems start behind the scenes - inside the lines and fittings you never think about. The old PEX-B lines on this unit had run their course. So we pulled them out and replaced both the hot and cold connections with 3/4" Type L copper. Copper is heavier duty, more durable, and holds up better over time than flexible PEX in applications like this.

Here's something a lot of homeowners don't know about - thermal expansion. When water heats up, it expands. If your system is a closed loop with no place for that extra pressure to go, it builds up inside your pipes and tank. That wears everything down faster. The fix is a thermal expansion tank, and that's exactly what we added here.

We installed a new HydraPro expansion tank set to 65 psi. We also marked the tank directly with the install date and the recommended replacement window so there's no guesswork down the road. Small detail, but it matters. That kind of documentation keeps the system running right and makes future service visits a lot smoother.

The difference between the before and after here really comes down to materials and method. The old setup was held together with flexible PEX lines and a tired expansion tank that had seen better days. What we left behind is solid copper runs, clean fittings, and a properly pressurized expansion tank - the kind of work that quietly protects your home for years.

We do this type of work all across the Bradenton, Sarasota, and Lakewood Ranch area. Water heater installation and water heater replacement are core parts of what we do, and we take the details seriously every time.
